David Shippy

David Shippy
David founded Shippy Multifamily Group in 2010 and is the CEO and President. Shippy Multifamily Group consists of Shippy Capital and Shippy Property Management. Shippy Capital has a proven track record with 38 syndicated apartment deals consisting of over 8300 units valued at over $1 Billion. Shippy Capital provides safe investments that generate stable cash yields and steady equity growth. Shippy Property Management is a team of over 100 employees that is comprised of experienced and dedicated professionals for their multifamily apartments. David has over 38 years and a proven track record in managing multi-million-dollar projects in the apartment industry and in the computer engineering industry. He has leadership training in: Apartment Management, Project Management, Risk Management, Negotiation Skills, and Management Skills. He received his BS Electrical Engineering from the University of Kentucky and a MS Computer Engineering from Syracuse. David was the chief architect for the supercomputer on a chip technology in the Xbox/360 and PlayStation/3, which set speed records. He was also the chief architect for the computer chips that brought personal computer speed to the iPhone and iPad. David holds over 50 patents in the computer engineering field and has received numerous industry awards for innovation, including the highest honor at IBM—the Master Invention Award—as well as other technology and real estate investing awards. He was honored as a Fellow at Advanced Micro Devices, where he led the architecture team for the Xbox One microprocessor technology. He was named Independent Real Estate Owner of the Year on multiple occasions. David is a sought-after speaker, author, and seminar leader. He has done many interviews on television and radio as well as speaking engagements regarding multifamily investments. David and Leslie co-authored Money Matters for Financial Freedom: The Fast Path to Abundance in Life and Business to share specific tools and methods for becoming financially free. David served on the advisory board for the University of Kentucky Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering for many years. He and his wife, Leslie, formed a foundation called #ShippyGivesBack through which they volunteer their time and money to worthy causes.

Shippy Capital provides conservative investments that generate stable cash yields and steady equity growth. Shippy Property Management is comprised of a team of over 80 employees who are experienced and dedicated professionals for our multifamily apartments. Leslie has over 25 years and a proven track record running successful businesses. She is CAM certified and has extensive business and human relations skills. She received her BA Sociology UT Permian Basin and MS Social Work UT Arlington. She has training as a Supervisor and utilizes her interactive and experiential style in conducting workshops and speaking engagements focusing on people building, skill building and inspiring others to live their best life. It is this skill set that has helped to create the successful Shippy Team. We believe that it is the people that make the business. Zach is our Operations Analyst & Support, who joined Shippy properties in June 2020, as the Assistant Regional Manager for the San Antonio region, where he worked closely with the team in performance of our San Antonio portfolio. Zach has a diverse background in the multifamily industry, he started in the multifamily industry while working toward his degree in accounting in 2011. During that time, he held various roles in property management from leasing agent to manager to property accountant. This experience has taught Zach the multifamily industry from the inside out. He brings to the Shippy team his knowledge in management, financials, resident relations, acquisitions, and revenue management. Zach is a photographer and a runner. He is also passionate about animals and spends most of his free time with his dog and two cats.

Denzell Housley

As the Resident Relations Specialist with Shippy Properties Denzell Housley opens the line of communication between clients, customers, and businesses to help communities grow. With over 10 years’ experience in management, team building, professional development, and strategic implementation, Denzell is an expert at bridging the communication gap between residents and community leaders. In previous roles with both Greystar and NFC, he had the daunting task of managing a community of over 2,000 units and 6,000 residents with the former; and with the latter Denzell oversaw the entirety of the resident experience for 11 communities in both Austin and San Antonio.
When he isn’t hard at work, Denzell enjoys spending his time with his twin sons or watching some of his favorite movies. If you challenge him to trivia in Greek mythology or nerd culture, be prepared to lose. Ever a student of the world, Denzell loves to immerse himself in different cultures to help him better understand people. As such, he has molded his management style off the principle that, it is only when we stop trying to understand each other, that we all fail.

Mr. Cannon joined the Shippy Property Management team in July of 2019 as the Assistant Controller. Adan has more than 5 years of accounting experience in various fields of the CRE industry. His diverse background in real estate accounting provides a wealth of knowledge in areas such as; business planning, financial budgets and projections, benchmarking and financial trends, internal controls assessment, and development of best business practices. Adan works directly with the Controller to ensure accuracy of the portfolio’s financial reporting. Adan first began his career in real estate accounting in 2013 working in the multifamily property management arena as an Accounts Payable/Receivable Accountant. His analytical skills and attention to detail were soon recognized, and he was promoted to Property Accountant. His talent for financial problem solving, streamlining processes, and financial reporting, ensured he would continue to thrive in the accounting department. After working in property management for 3 years, Adan transitioned into the CRE niche as a Corporate Accountant. During this time, he was responsible for the financial reporting, intercompany account reconciliations, facilitating tax preparation and payroll over the entire portfolio comprised of multiple LLC’s. Not long after, Adan ascended the ranks to become the Assistant Controller working directly with the Corporate Controller to assist in managing the day to day operations of the accounting department. Adan holds an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration with a focus in Accounting from Austin Community College. He graduated top of his class and was a multiple Dean’s List Award winner.

Trevor joined Shippy Properties in February of 2022 as our Property Accountant and Acquisitions Analyst. Trevor has 10+ years of banking experience working with two of the largest financial institutions in the US, Bank of America and Wells Fargo. Trevor has worked with numerous investment products from commodity derivatives to treasury products, and with various accounting strategies from Fair Value to Hedge Accounting. Trevor earned his undergraduate in finance at the University of Houston Downtown and his MBA from the University of North Carolina Charlotte. We are excited to have Trevor on the team and to utilize his experience to optimize existing processes and further grow Shippy Properties portfolio.

Heather joined the Shippy Property Management team in August of 2018. Having worked in multiple industries and holding a degree in psychology, Heather brings a variety of interpersonal skills and over five years of office administration experience. She is on track to completing a bachelor’s degree in Business Management with a concentration in HR and has advanced from our office admin into our HR Coordinator. Heather executes all tasks related to employee relations & records, policies & procedures, on-boarding new staff, compensation & benefits. She was born and raised in San Antonio, earned her psychology degree and started her family in Corpus Christi and is now living in Kyle, TX with her husband and three young children.
